Game fishing (deep-sea / sport fishing) in the Andamans is a half-day boat trip with tackle and a local skipper. You target pelagic and reef species rather than shore casting. Most visitors book a shared seat on a charter boat; private full-boat hire is available but costs more.
Havelock (Swaraj Dweep): Common base for reef and open-water runs. Good if your itinerary already includes scuba or beach days on the island.
Port Blair: Charters leave from mainland jetties. Useful if you have only a short stay before flying out, or you are combining fishing with North Bay water sports.
Neil Island has fewer published charter menus — ask when you arrive or book from Port Blair / Havelock first.
Shared-seat game fishing is often listed around Rs 5,000 to 9,000 per person for a 4 to 6 hour trip. Retail catalogues sometimes show a mid-band sale near Rs 5,900. Private boats and peak season can run higher. Fuel, GST, bait, and catch rules vary — treat board prices as a guide and confirm before you pay.

Expect about 4 to 6 hours door to door: brief, steam out, fish, return. Shared packages usually include boat, basic tackle, and a guide. Ask about life jackets, hotel pickup, photo packages, and whether you keep any catch (many operators follow local release or limited-keep rules).
Season and luck matter. Operators commonly mention trevally, snapper, barracuda, kingfish, tuna, and occasionally larger pelagics. There is no guarantee of a specific species — weather and monsoon gaps also shut trips with little notice.
No advanced fishing licence is required for tourist day trips, but you should be comfortable on a moving boat for several hours. Seasickness medication helps if you are sensitive. Children are often allowed with age minimums set by the boat — confirm when you enquire. Best dry-season window for water sports and charters is roughly October to May.
